Our approach goes beyond academics. We equip Scholars with the tools, mentorship, and leadership development they need to thrive—not just for themselves, but for their communities.
And we don’t just support students—we uplift NGS families because we know that a strong support system is key to academic and personal success.
Our Programs
Year Round Academy 6th-12th
The Next Generation Scholars Academy program serves students from 6th through 12th grade - helping them realize their unique identities, achieve their goals and take command of their futures.
We measure our success by our ability to get Scholars to and through college and their ability to impact their communities. Our core year round Academy program is centered around three components:
- Academic Counseling
- Community Uplift Leadership Development
- College & Career Support
Summer Programs 1st-12th
Scholars meet five days a week over the course of five weeks. The Summer Academy is designed to be “anticipatory”, preparing them for the upcoming academic year, as well as “exploratory'', allowing students the opportunity to discover new interests and passions.

Community Uplift and Leadership Development 8th-12th
The Community Leadership Development Program empowers Scholars to make a meaningful, direct impact on their communities, while bolstering their applications and candidacy for acceptance and financial support, to competitive colleges and universities.
Additionally, this program is designed to foster durable skill sets that will launch students into their first careers.
The Community Uplift Project is for Year-Round Program Participants and Summer Academy Participants.
College & Career Pathways
Next Generation Scholars supports Academy graduates during their college years and beyond.
With an emphasis on “to and through” college, we work with our Scholars as they navigate campus life. Check-ins are scheduled on a monthly basis, where Scholars meet individually or as a group to address hopes, fears, and the ins and outs of daily college life.
We also help our Scholars access a wide range of resources, including academic, financial and networking support. After college, we continue to stand behind Scholars as they look to achieve their professional goals. This includes helping them identify and prepare for employment and further educational opportunities.
Family Services Program (NGS Parents)
When Next Generation Scholars first began serving low-income youth, we quickly realized that educational achievement did not depend solely on what took place in the classroom.
We knew we had to address a more complex range of challenges in the community - from parents being unfamiliar with the college application process to broader issues such as child care, food insecurity, flawed immigration policies, lack of health care, unstable housing, and more.
Recognizing the need to support the entire family, we offer two-family oriented programs:
Family Services
Provides parents and caregivers with the skills, resources, and tools they need to help their children access higher education and create a college-bound culture at home.
Family & Community Engagement
Through partnerships with several organizations and businesses, our services include:
