On Saturday, May 14th, NGS family members enjoyed an outing at Samuel P. Taylor National Park for the first time, thanks to our partner, Latino Outdoors. Participants explored nature together, shared great food and learned about the Park’s redwoods and the life cycles of salmon. Latino Outdoors’ mission is to inspire, connect, and engage Latino communities in the outdoors and embrace cultura y familia as part of the outdoor narrative, ensuring our history, heritage, and leadership are valued and represented.
NGS families and staff are grateful for the opportunities made possible by this partnership, providing access to guided experiences in the great outdoors. This summer, we will be partnering with them again, along with the Tahoe Rim Trail Association to offer a backpacking trip for 12 NGS Scholars – a first time experience for many of them.
