NGS announces an exciting new partnership with the Marin Shakespeare Company, a local non-profit whose mission is to serve as a vibrant catalyst for cultural engagement, education, and social justice to benefit the people of Marin County, the San Francisco Bay Area, and beyond.
Beginning next month, Marin Shakespeare Company will lead a six-week unit for our eight grade Scholars to introduce them to theater and Shakespeare’s work. Scholars will read and analyze two well-known monologues in Macbeth and will then write their own monologues at the end of the unit. Middle School Director, Llesica Hernandez, notes “Given Macbeth is a staple in most ninth-grade curriculums, this partnership serves as a fun and meaningful progression as our eighth graders begin their transition into high school.”
NGS is extremely grateful to Marin Shakespeare’s Managing Director, Lesley Currier, and Education Director, Leon James, for making this partnership possible. Their commitment to ensuring first generation students have access to the universal teachings of Shakespeare ensures NGS eighth graders can begin high school fully understanding that, indeed, “All the World’s a Stage.” – William Shakespeare
