Our students, families and staff are thrilled to introduce our new Social Services Director, Maria Gramajo.
Maria returns to NGS as a proud alumni and past Summer Academy teacher and Director of Internship Program. She was born and raised in Marin County and attended San Pedro Elementary School, Davidson Middle School and San Rafael High School before moving to D.C. to attend American University. She earned her B.A. in American Studies and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies focusing on the queer student of color experience in higher education. Maria’s professional goal is to become a college professor. She hopes to teach and focus her research on racial capitalism, wellness, gender and sexuality in online spaces.
In her first days at NGS, Maria notes:
“Next Generation Scholars helped me grow into the person I am today and I am forever thankful to the teachers, staff, parents, and tutors here who pushed me to recognize my greatness. I am happy to be back at NGS and look forward to supporting our students through the perspective of my new role.”
